I am sure some of you have already heard that our class has changed a little bit. We are proud to introduce Kelley Smith, our student teacher from ESU. Just a little memo from Kelley:

Hello! My name is Kelley Smith. I am a student teacher from East Stroudsburg University and will be working at Oxford Central School for the next six weeks. At the end of the six weeks I will be certified to teach history at the middle and high school levels as well as receiving a master’s degree. In 2009, prior to student teaching, I obtained a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Anthropology and Archaeology and specialized in Native American studies. For my internship, I lived in South Dakota on the Yankton Sioux Reservation with the Spotted Eagle family and conducted archaeological survey of local land for the tribe.
I am sure the students will be just as curious as to who I am as I am of them. I am originally from Hopatcong, New Jersey where I lived for seventeen years with my family. I have two siblings: a twenty-year-old sister and a ten-year-old brother, as well as a Chihuahua called Nugget. My favorite sports teams are the New York Jets and New York Yankees. In my spare time I enjoy to read and play my cello, piano, clarinet, or guitar.
Over the weeks, I hope to get to know the students and families of Oxford Central and cannot wait to participate in the fun and education. If you have any questions, concerns, or would just like to say hello, please do not hesitate to contact myself or my mentor teacher, Mrs. Elena Kantz, at the school.
